La Sagrada Familia!

Hola!

Too tired to do another post last night, and too rushed this morning, so taking time out (lunchtime Barcelona time) for a few words and pictures of La Sagrada Familia, Gaudi’s famous cathedral.

Decided that we wanted to see it at sunset/night, so headed out somewhere around 8:30 p.m. It’s only a couple of blocks away, so we walked. Wow…It is very hard to tell exactly what has changed in the few years since we saw it last, but it is a very interesting building which continues to go up. Work has begun on the final façade, in the south, and supposed to be the most spectacular yet. We walked all around the building, which fortunately has parks to its east and west, waiting for it to get dark enough for the night lighting…and again, Double WOW! It is absolutely spectacular when the lights on at night. I think it is more interesting than in the day, as the lights can cast certain shadows and really accent certain things. So…photos. My favorite is the one R took of the east façade, reflected in the lake in the park across the street. Since our last visit, the church has been consecrated, and less than a month ago (April 19), there was an arson fire in the sacristy, in which no one was injured, but the sacristy was destroyed. Who would do something that stupid??

At any rate, want to get the photos posted!

Lots of love,
