WOW! What an event!! Those guys sure know how to throw a party!

Hola!!

Left for the 9 p.m. soccer game about 7, as remembered well the lesson we learned when we got caught up in so much traffic in Roma! Walked over to get the bus, and found that we weren't alone going to Camp Nou stadium. Talked with another couple who suggested a different bus to the north side of the stadium, which worked out fine!

SO exciting to really be going to a Barca game in Camp Nou!

Managed to get some cheese/baguette sandwiches and water (from which they take the tops)and went inside to find our seats. FABULOUS seats; 12 rows up the second level, right behind an entryway, meaning no one in front of us! Yea! Very, very different from an Italian game. Lots and lots of wives and kids -- including little babies! No divided stands or fences to keep fans off the field or away from each other! There were actually Deportivo fans dressed up without any problems at all! What a concept! Also, no firefighters to take care of the flares; no armed police -- no military helicopters roaming overhead! Can this really be a game?

What I had been concerned about -- the stars resting because they've already clinched the championship -- happened for the most part; a bit disappointing not to see them. However, game was good; 0-0 draw.

But then...whew!! Out came the confetti machines -- and the team was presented with the trophy for winning the league championship. They'd already had a parade and rally on Friday night, so we thought this was a little surprising -- but what an amazing time!!

Music, singing, first the maroon and blue confetti everywhere, shortly followed by silver and gold confetti on top of that! Then, off went

the lights, and the fireworks started!! Oh, an incredible evening -- including the ENTIRE team, including the guys I wanted to see -- Xavi, Puyol, Messi, David Villa -- so I did get to see everybody after all!!

Found a taxi with no problem and managed to get home fairly quickly!! What an incredible way to end our Barcelona adventure!

Off to Valencia tomorrow!
